Charleswood Gospel Temple began in 1949 as a Sunday School outreach led by young adults from Calvary Temple, Winnipeg. In 1951 property was bought and a building was erected at 221 Cathcart Street in Charleswood.
Calvary Temple continued to underwrite the cost of the building and pastoral salaries until 1969 when the congregation was able to accept full responsibility for its own affairs.
By 1977 the congregation had grown to the point that expansion was needed. Property was purchased just outside the perimeter highway (at Roblin Blvd) and a new building was built. The church, our present location, was dedicated to God September 17th, 1978.
On October 5, 2008 the congregation voted to change the name to Grace Community Church.
